Investing in conservation and renewable resources: The only sustainable future for the world

Tonight I watched a documentary entitled Crude Awakening.  After watching it I find myself irreversably convinced that the current economic downturn will last for at least 10 years, possibly 40-50 if we don't make huge investments in more efficiently using the energy we have and also harvesting renewable sources of energy.  This is due to the fact that we will soon be, if we aren't already are, on the declining side of worldwide oil production.  If you haven't seen Crude Awakening, I recommend you rent it, just be sure to put away the knives and sedatives before you do.

Election Returns Drinking Game

Election returns drinking game rules

Okay, so these rules are in two parts. For the first part, you drink the stated amount for your party, double for the opposite party.

  • 1 for each race called (House, Senate, Dog Catcher, etc.)
  • 1 for each state called (2 if it's a ticket member's home state)
  • 1 for every 10 electoral votes called
  • 1 for each campaign advisor interview
  • 1 for each exit poll with your candidate ahead

The second set is as normal.

Flag Waving Jackass

I was up at Lowes and happened to see this truck in the parking lot.  Apparently the republicans aren't just going after the "Sam's Club" republicans, but all big box retailers.

Hehe.

Justice Breyer?

In case any of you missed it during the final debate, McCain seems a little fuzzy about history.  In last nights debate, this is part of what McCain had to say regarding judicial nominees:

"Senator Obama voted against Justice Breyer and Justice Roberts on the grounds that they didn't meet his ideological standards. That's not the way we should judge these nominees. Elections have consequences. They should be judged on their qualifications. And so that's what I will do."

Choosing a distribution, an atheistic approach

I need to start by explaining what Linux is and what it isn't.  Linux is simply a kernel, the part of a computer's operating system that manages it's core functions.  Things like talking to hardware, managing what program gets to use the CPU when, etc.  It does not have a direct user interface, it doesn't know how to talk to the user, only other programs.  So, the kernel by itself is pretty useless.  For the sake of this article we'll use the term operating system (OS) to in much the way Microsoft does.  In this sense an OS includes not just the kernel, but all the programs required to conf

Not sure how true this is, and that fact alone is pretty bad

My beloved stumble sent me to this article today.  I'm not sure if it's true.  But I do believe that the scenario painted isn't at all unrealistic.  We have seen the willingness of this administration to lie and suspend any semblance of the freedoms that this republic once held dear.  Worse is that people are too distracted by the spectacle of modern life to care.  Too wrapped up in their lives of pure, unadulterated consumerism.

What their fair and balanced news team did on a slow day...

All I can Say is WTF?

FDR Prolonged the Great Depression

I haven't really investigated this one.  FDR prolonged the great depression?  One of these days I'll pull out the study they cite and look it over.  I find it difficult to believe that you can derive accurate projections for the great depression.  Especially considering the world events that followed.
