Justice Breyer?

In case any of you missed it during the final debate, McCain seems a little fuzzy about history.  In last nights debate, this is part of what McCain had to say regarding judicial nominees:

"Senator Obama voted against Justice Breyer and Justice Roberts on the grounds that they didn't meet his ideological standards. That's not the way we should judge these nominees. Elections have consequences. They should be judged on their qualifications. And so that's what I will do."

Justice Breyer was a clinton appointee in 1994.  That's well before Barack Obama was in the senate.  No correction at all, no mention in the press.  I think this is a big deal.  If McCain can't keep the names of people he's confirmed to the supreme court straight, how can we expect him to function well in a job where having a firm command of the facts under pressure is vital?  Some slips of the tongue are fine, for example when McCain demanded "You have to tell me one time when you have stood up with the leaders of your party on one single major issue."  I was willing to let that one slide, despite the fact that it completely reversed the meaning of the question.  I don't think McCain is stupid, and I firmly believe that these errors were caused by the pressure of a nationally televised debate.  However, it gives me yet another reason to doubt McCains ability to hold office.
